10 future technologies that will change the world by 2050

Future Technologies

Future technologies If we go back 30 years, we will quickly see that many of the technologies that seem common to us today did not exist in 1990. To this, we must add that the appearance of new services and products seems to accelerate with time. For this reason, we were interested in the possibility of reviewing several of the future technologies that will change the world by the year 2050. Can you imagine some of them?

Of course, the first thing we have to bear in mind is that venturing what future technologies will be three decades from now is not as simple nor can it be as precise as thinking about them in the short term. Anyway, taking advantage of part of the information that we have access to today, we are going to try to make a list of many of these technologies. That way, they won't surprise you when they're among us. Future technologies that we cannot lose sight of

DNA-based computing

This, that of DNA-based computing is a concept that already exists. Many specialists believe that sooner rather than later, we will be able to use biology instead of silicon to solve complex problems. From complex processes of action and reaction, the potential of computers would reach unexpected levels.

 Smart Dust

The " smart dust " refers to a huge number of small sensors, interconnected between them, which would be capable of obtaining gigantic amounts of information, then serving them to a wireless computer network for transmission. However, certain industry insiders believe that their ecological damage is so high that they will be discarded in the search to preserve the environment.

 4D printing

Here we must not get confused, we are not talking about reaching a new dimension beyond the third. We are talking about 3D printed objects, to which another «dimension» can be added, that of reacting to certain external stimuli, as determined by its creators. This can have interesting scopes in some sectors such as healthcare.

 Neuromorphic hardware

Neuromorphic engineering aims to create hardware that copies the behavior of neurons using silicon. These days, when we seem to be witnessing the end of the exponential growth in computing power predicted by Moore's Law, this possibility takes on even more significance.

 Nanoscale 3D printing

3D printing remains a solution that very few people and organizations can enjoy. This is because the cost of 3D printers is still too high for the average citizen. It is also a technology that is taking its first steps and is not yet suitable for use at scale. Of course, this may change in the years to come, with the advent of what some call "nanoscale 3D printing."

Digital cufflinks

This notion is one of those that has already been applied in different fields, although most of us are not aware of it, nor will we be for a few years. It is an environment that includes Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and other elements that generate digital replicas of all physical assets. When the latter update, so do those replicas or digital twins.

 Volumetric screens

Although the idea of volumetric displays is not saying too much, we are talking about holograms. Regarding the different current techniques that allow this kind of content reproduction, there are doubts about whether this technology will undergo a revolution and will be essential or just a complement for the consumption of a few.

 Brain-computer interface or BCI

The Brain-Computer Interfaces suppose the option that we indicate actions to the machines that we use daily directly with our mind. In this way, it would not be necessary to have a keyboard and mouse on our computer, for example. Again, although the applications of these future technologies seem extremely varied, there is no doubt that medicine will be one of the main beneficiaries of their implementation.

 Flying autonomous vehicles

Yes, it is true that since the middle of the last century it was believed that one of the future technologies that would appear in little more were flying cars. And, so far, we have no news from them, beyond the drone attempt. For the next few decades, it is considered that flying autonomous vehicles will be a constant, beyond which everything sounds like a nice science fiction tale. There are more than 10 projects with good reason to believe that they will be successful in this segment. Of course, its costs are stratospheric.

 Secure quantum internet

We have already spoken at IslaBit about quantum technology and its scope. As we explained, this computation will allow us to make a substantial leap in the number of calculations that a machine can do per second. We could achieve combinations of text and numbers in record time and all possible alternatives.

Conclusions

We go with some conclusions. The most important, and one that we must never forget, is that future technology will continue to be a kind of mirror. In other words, they will reflect both the good and the bad that society does. Therefore, it will be essential to be careful in its use.
